Job Summary and Qualifications

The Lactation Consultant is responsible for understanding and assisting with the lactation process. Provides expert care in lactation management in accordance with the International Lactation Consultant Association and Standards of Practice for International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners or The Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice code of ethics, respective of current certification. Serves as an expert consultant to maternal- child, staff, physicians and other healthcare professionals in the management of patients with complex breastfeeding problems. Participates in program management to support and encourage successful breastfeeding through the first year of life. Participates in program development activities to facilitate successful exclusive breastfeeding for inpatient mother/infant dad.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• (RN) Registered Nurse
• Associate Degree
• (IBCLC) International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, or (CLC) Certified Lactation Counselor
