Scrum Master AZDOR
Location: Phoenix, AZ Primarily Remote/Hybrid
Client: Arizona Department of Revenue (AZDOR)
AZDOR is seeking an experienced Scrum Master with a strong technical background to support a large, multi-phase greenfield tax system implementation.
- Lead the transition of development teams from traditional Waterfall to Agile delivery.
- Serve as an Agile coach, mentor, and Change Agent to drive Agile adoption and continuous improvement.
- Facilitate Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
- Coordinate between Agile teams, internal organizations, Program Leadership, business stakeholders, and external vendors.
- Identify, track, escalate, and remove technical, vendor, integration, and organizational impediments.
- Manage complex cross-team dependencies across large, multi-phase enterprise implementations.
- Support Product Owners with backlog refinement, prioritization, platform requirements, and improvement recommendations.
- Maintain technical backlogs, work-item structures, queries, and progress reporting using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools .
- Support enterprise integrations, technical delivery, release activities, and implementation planning.
- 10+ years of experience working on large, complex, multi-phase system implementations.
- 3 5+ years of Scrum Master experience within a software development environment.
- Strong experience supporting Waterfall-to-Agile transformations .
- Experience with large-scale greenfield enterprise system implementations and complex dependency management.
- Experience implementing COTS products/enterprise platforms .
- Strong technical background, preferably with previous software development experience .
- Experience implementing complex solutions within Public Sector, FinTech, financial services, or other regulated industries .
- Tax-related or financial system implementation experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of end-to-end data management, integration, conversion, cleansing, data integrity, and system compatibility .
- Strong vendor management, stakeholder management, facilitation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage resistance to change and guide teams through organizational and Agile transformation.
- Previous experience serving as both a Scrum Master and Software Developer is highly preferred.
- Position is primarily remote with periodic onsite meetings in Phoenix, AZ .
