Expert Data Scientist - EHS Overview Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking an Expert Data Scientist to advance EHS data analytics, high‑risk prioritization metrics and develop and implement an AI and ML strategy. The role will partner with EHS leaders, manufacturing and safety data analytics, the IDT&S organization and other stakeholders to transform complex safety and environmental data into actionable insights that improve risk identification and support proactive decision‑making. Key Responsibilities Partner with the Manufacturing and Safety team to develop and maintain advanced analytics models and dashboards supporting EHS performance monitoring, trend analysis, and predictive insights. Analyze incident, audit, inspection, training, exposure and other EHS datasets to identify patterns, leading indicators and risk drivers. Translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations for business and EHS leaders. Lead sustainment and creation of standardized EHS metrics, data definitions and reporting frameworks, including high‑risk prioritization metrics. Participate in developing and executing the enterprise EHS data strategy—governance, data quality, taxonomy, integration and accessibility. Partner with the EHS Systems team to align critical data sources and improve data completeness, accuracy and usability. Collaborate with ITD&S to establish reliable pipelines, scalable architecture and sustainable analytics solutions. Define data standards and business rules enabling harmonized EHS reporting and analysis. Support development and implementation of an EHS AI strategy aligned to business priorities and digital transformation objectives. Identify, evaluate and prioritize AI/ML use cases such as predictive risk detection, anomaly detection, NLP of incident narratives, inspection intelligence and recommendation engines. Lead or guide pilot development, proof‑of‑concepts, model validation and implementation planning for AI‑enabled EHS solutions. Lead a team of stakeholders to move AI concepts from exploration to deployment and adoption, ensuring responsible, ethical, and explainable AI usage. Serve as a trusted advisor to EHS and business leaders on analytics, data‑driven risk management and AI opportunities. Present findings and recommendations to technical and non‑technical audiences. Support change management, user adoption and training efforts for new analytics tools and AI capabilities. Build cross‑functional relationships so analytics outputs are embedded into operational processes. Required Qualifications 10+ years of experience in data science, analytics or applied data solutions, preferably in EHS, safety, environmental compliance, risk management, operations or a regulated industry. 10+ years of proficiency in Python, R, SQL or equivalent analytics tools. Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar platforms. Experience working with large, complex and potentially disparate datasets. Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, industrial engineering, mathematics, environmental science or a related field. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing or implementing AI/ML solutions in an enterprise environment. Familiarity with EHS data domains such as incidents, hazards, corrective actions, audits, exposure monitoring, training, inspections and regulatory compliance. Experience with natural language processing, anomaly detection, classification, clustering or time‑series forecasting. Knowledge of responsible AI principles, model interpretability and governance frameworks. Strong understanding of data strategy concepts—governance, quality, lineage and integration. Ability to communicate technical findings to business stakeholders and influence decision‑making. Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple workstreams.
