Wastewater Treatment Project Manager

Key Responsibilities Manage the full lifecycle of wastewater treatment projects, including new facilities, expansions, and upgrades Lead process evaluation and design for primary, secondary, and tertiary systems, including biological nutrient removal (BNR) Evaluate and optimize treatment processes such as activated sludge, MBR, SBR, trickling filters, and advanced systems Oversee process modeling, mass balance analyses, and capacity evaluations Develop solutions for biosolids treatment, including digestion and dewatering Manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and deliverables Prepare and present technical reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates Support permitting and regulatory compliance Provide construction-phase services, including submittal review, RFIs, field inspections, and startup/commissioning Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development efforts Skills, Knowledge And Expertise Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field Professional Engineer (PE) license 8+ years of experience in wastewater treatment design and process engineering Strong expertise in municipal wastewater treatment and nutrient removal Proven experience managing projects, delivering on time and within budget Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD required Experience with process modeling tools such as BioWin or GPS-X a plus Experience with funding programs (SRF, USDA Rural Development) a plus Ability to travel approximately 5-10% throughout New England This is a hybrid role , offering the best of both worlds—collaborate in-office with a high-performing team and enjoy the flexibility of working remotely part of the week. This range reflects the company’s good faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
