Crane Operator

Position: CRANE OPERATOR

Job Summary:

Must be able to drive and operate cranes of various sizes and types (lattice boom, crawler, hydraulic, rough terrain, friction, etc) with proficiency and accuracy under varying working conditions in order to lift and set equipment, material, tools, and supplies as well as drive piles.

Essential Duties:

* Follow Daily Procedures and Protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings and Safety Handbooks. Properly follow OSHA safety procedures. Bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent or Safety Facilitator.

* Operate lattice boom friction crawler cranes for the purpose of pile driving using diesel, hydraulic, air and vibratory hammers.

* Operate lattice boom friction crawler cranes, hydraulic cranes, and rough terrain cranes for the purpose of hoisting and setting equipment, tools, and supplies.

* Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment and report defects or needed repairs to supervisor.

* Must be able to read and understand load charts and operate cranes within the charted capacities of the crane.

* Perform housekeeping task and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

* NCCCO or NCCER and TLL TSS LAT certification required for each type of crane being operated.

* Considerable knowledge of crane and heavy-equipment operating principles.

* Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to crane and heavy equipment operations.

* Ability to perform manual work requiring periods of extensive physical exertion and potential exposure to adverse weather conditions.

* Must have ability to take instructions via hand signals and radio communications.

* Must be able to operate equipment with both hand and feet controls, and the coordination to operate both types of control simultaneously, and must be able to manipulate controls to regulate speed and direction of equipment movement.

* Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

* Able to travel and work overtime (may include nights and weekends).

* Must be at least 18 years of age, pass drug screen, and background check.

Work Conditions:

* Construction site with mobile construction equipment.

* Outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, humidity, and exposure to building materials and dust.
