Staff Flight Test Engineer – Autonomous UAS

We're partnering exclusively with a well-funded, technology-led organisation operating at the cutting edge of autonomous aerial systems. This team has developed a purpose-built UAS platform that is already flying commercial missions at scale - not a prototype, not a pilot programme, but a live operational product with real regulatory approvals behind it.

As a Flight Test Engineer within a dedicated advanced development function, you'll be central to expanding the vehicle's operational envelope and pushing the boundaries of what autonomous flight can do in complex, real-world environments.

What you'll be doing:

• Planning, executing, and analysing flight test programmes across a production autonomous multi-rotor platform
• Developing and maintaining flight test plans, safety cases, and formal test reports to FAA and internal standards
• Working closely with GNC, avionics, propulsion, and software teams to define acceptance criteria and validate system performance
• Identifying failure modes and contributing to FMEA, hazard analysis, and risk mitigation strategies
• Supporting airspace integration and engaging with regulators (FAA, local FSDO) to expand operating permissions
• Maintaining and improving ground support equipment, data acquisition systems, and telemetry infrastructure
• Championing a strong safety culture and mentoring junior team members

What they're looking for:

• Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline — or demonstrable practical experience in lieu
• 3+ years of hands-on flight test experience — UAS, eVTOL, rotorcraft, or fixed-wing all considered
• Familiarity with FAA certification pathways relevant to UAS operations (Part 107, Part 135, type certification awareness)
• Proficiency with flight test data analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python, or similar
• Experience producing formal test documentation — test plans, reports, safety assessments
• Comfortable building processes from the ground up in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
