Controller

The Controller is responsible for all daily accounting operations (AR/AP, payroll, banking), manages compliance and reporting requirements, coordinates with external consultants, prepares monthly financial analyses (WIP and cashflow), and handles audits, vendor negotiations, and HR financial matters. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Day-to-Day Accounting Operations Manage all accounts payable activities including invoice processing, licenses, DMV registrations, payroll, and taxes Oversee accounts receivable functions, primarily deposits and posting; coordinate with Operations on project invoicing Perform banking reconciliations and approve Banking Positive Pay transactions Review current procedures and develop more efficient internal controls Assess and optimize accounting staff alignment and structure Compliance and Reporting Prepare and submit certified payroll reports, including DIR/LCP Tracker compliance Verify compliance with all federal and state reporting requirements External Coordination Coordinate with CPA firm for financial statements Coordinate with CPA firm on taxes and tax strategies Manage relationship with insurance and bonding partners Financial Analysis and Planning Prepare monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports in coordination with Operations on forecasted schedules and costs Conduct monthly cashflow analysis and reporting Strategic Activities Coordinate and manage audits (union, insurance, and bonding) Negotiate payment terms with vendors and credit line terms with banking institutions Collaborate with HR on financial impacts of policies related to PTO, vacation, and other personnel matters Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or controller role Strong knowledge of GAAP, federal and state compliance requirements, and internal controls Experience with construction or project-based accounting preferred Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment #J-18808-Ljbffr InHouse Talent Group
