Job Summary:
The Emergency Room (ER) Specialty Nurse position is located in Garrison, North Dakota. This role involves working primarily in an ED/MedSurg Swing unit, providing care to a diverse patient population. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment. The position features 12-hour shifts, including days and nights, with an expectation of working every other weekend and every other holiday.

Job Details:

• Location: Garrison, North Dakota
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, including days (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and nights (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.); minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, minimum of 2 years of MedSurg experience, and at least 1 year of relevant ER or MedSurg experience.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Experience: 2 years of relevant experience, including MedSurg and ER experience; recent employment at the same facility (permanent or PRN) within the last 12 months disqualifies applicants based on the 50 mile radius rule.
• Patient Care: Care for any diagnoses or patient types, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 to 4 in acute settings and 1 to 6 in swing beds.
• Technical Skills: RNs are required to titrate drips and commonly set rate drips.
• Unit Specifics: Telemetry monitoring is available; RNs read strips in the ED.
• Float & Additional Requirements: Will float to ED holds or other units if needed; may work as a charge nurse or house supervisor.
• Orientation: Unit-specific orientation will be provided.
• Policy: Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment (or 3 shifts for shorter assignments).
