Position: Custodian Location: Harbor Springs, MI Job Id: 310 # of Openings: 1 Job Title: Custodian Department: Maintenance & Facilities Shift: 2nd or 3rd shift Supervisor: Maintenance Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly Prepared Date: 9/22/2026 Summary We are seeking a dynamic self-starter to fill our current opening for Custodian. The Custodian performs assigned custodial tasks, which includes but not limited to, general cleaning (restroom, offices, cafeteria, etc.), buffing, scrubbing, and the ability to perform basic tasks of vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and use of equipment such as scrubbers, extractors, and buffers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs all general required tasks as directed. Uses floor machines for buffing, stripping, waxing, vacuuming and carpet cleaning safely, according to proper usage. Performs all tasks within proper safety guidelines, company guidelines, and as directed by management. Follows all company policies and procedures regarding safety, customer service, proper attire, and working conditions such as hours and timekeeping. Performs assignments according to company schedule and as expected by customer. Performs janitorial/custodial tasks based on defined scope of work and customer requests. These are performed to published schedules and within explained guidelines. Repetitive motion involved daily may include, but not limited to, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, and squatting. This is intended to give an overview of the position and is not an exhaustive list. Other duties may be assigned. Requirements Basic knowledge of custodial duties and janitorial responsibilities. Knowledge of cleaning equipment including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and applying finishes on different flooring materials. Knowledge of cleaning techniques and processes. Knowledge of the qualities and uses of various cleaning, sanitizing, stripping, and waxing compounds. Experience in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms. Able to demonstrate the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to appropriate Supervisor. Must be able to read, understand and follow units of measurement on product labels. Satisfactory personal appearance and hygiene within company guidelines. Demonstrated ability of maintaining janitorial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition. Ability to move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials up to 50 pounds. Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time to include climbing/descending stairwells and ladders. Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or equivalent Wages commensurate with experience, starting at $20 per hour. Interning at Moeller Aerospace provided great practical experience and helped me develop both technical and interpersonal skills. Working and learning from the other process engineers and people on the shop floor offered an enjoyable, friendly environment and gave me a strong understanding of the time, effort, and dedication that goes into aerospace manufacturing. Moeller Aerospace has an enthusiastic approach to teaching and training. Working here has increased my knowledge of manufacturing and the aerospace field by working in teams across several different departments. The program has increased my confidence as an engineer and allowed me to gain processing experience while increasing my proficiency in CAD software. Being a part of a smaller company allowed me to easily build professional relationships and work on some of the company’s larger projects. With this experience, I will be going into the workforce fully prepared to be the best engineer I can be after working at Moeller Aerospace. Interning at Moeller Aerospace provided me with an environment that surrounded me with a wealth of knowledge from several fields. Being my first internship in process engineering, I was glad to have an entire facility of people who I could ask questions and a pair of mentors who took the time to make sure I understood not just how something was done, but why it was done that way. With all of their help this summer, I believe that I have become a better designer and engineer in addition to learning about the aerospace industry.
