The Research Assistant 1 contributes to research investigators by providing research and experimentation support while following established protocols. The Research Assistant 1 performs a clerical role to ensure the smooth operations of office facilities.Core ResponsibilitiesSets up and operates various scientific apparatus and makes minor repairs.Prepares correspondence and answers phones.Formulates and maintains bibliographies and completes applications and forms.Orders laboratory supplies and maintains culture media reagents.Reviews and edits various materials for publication and prepares publication schedules.Maintains appropriate logs, records, and study notebooks.Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.Department Specific FunctionsWork as part of a team to initiate and manage research studies in the most optimal fashion. Ensure the accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with Good Clinical Practices, HIPPA and required obligations to patients, research participants, Principal Investigator, research team and the sponsor. Work may include directly interface with patients and research participants subjects.Work closely with the Director as part of an interprofessional, transdisciplinary team to provide an outstanding, comprehensive research experience.Demonstrates critical judgment to maintain the integrity of the research protocol without compromising patient safety.Demonstrates appropriate skills relating to the execution of research protocols, such as determining eligibility, exclusion criteria, identifying need for modifications and adverse responses.Create and maintain participant charts & coordinate participant appointmentsCollects, organizes and maintains source documentation.Ensure protocol is being followed as approved by the IRBEnter research and clinical data into study databases and records systems with a high level of accuracy, following established protocols to ensure data integrity throughout the research processConduct thorough quality assurance reviews of entered records, checking for accuracy, completeness, and consistency, and flagging or correcting any discrepancies before data is finalizedRetrieve data from laboratory and clinical machines and upload it into the appropriate data management systems, ensuring proper labeling, formatting, and timely transfer for use by the research teamInteracts with research participants, faculty, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.Performs other work-related duties and complete projects as assigned.This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.Core RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent.
