Role Description The General Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at Café Landwer in Boston, MA. This role oversees daily café operations, including opening and closing procedures, staff scheduling, quality control, and adherence to health and safety standards. The General Manager leads, trains, and mentors team members to deliver consistent, high-quality hospitality and service, while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. Responsibilities include managing inventory and ordering, monitoring sales and costs, implementing promotional initiatives, and ensuring that the café meets financial goals. The General Manager also handles guest feedback, resolves operational issues in real time, and represents the Café Landwer brand and values in the local community. Qualifications Experience in hospitality or restaurant management, including overseeing daily operations and leading front-of-house and back-of-house teams. Strong leadership, coaching, and people-management skills, with the ability to build an engaged, high-performing, and diverse team. Proficiency in budgeting, cost control, and basic financial analysis to manage labor, inventory, and operational expenses effectively. Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to resolve guest concerns and maintain a welcoming atmosphere. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and health regulations, and commitment to maintaining a safe, compliant workplace. Organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience as a General Manager, Assistant Manager, or similar leadership role in a café or restaurant is strongly preferred. Availability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business requires. High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in hospitality, business, or a related field is an asset.
