Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director and Director, and the indirect supervision of the Associate Vice President / University Architect for Facilities Planning, Design and Construction, serves as project manager directly responsible for overseeing the design and execution of major capital construction and renovation projects, including overall monitoring of contract administration. Responsible to lead and mentor less experienced project managers through the planning, design, bidding, construction, and close out phases of project execution. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 4 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
Driver's license required. Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related field from an accredited college or university, and 6 years demonstrated project management experience with the design, construction and management of major construction building projects; or bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related field from an accredited college or university, and 8 years demonstrated project management experience with the design, construction and management of major construction building projects. Demonstrated experience successfully leading, mentoring and developing less experienced team members with varying backgrounds, skill sets and competencies. Professional licensure as an engineer or architect or the ability to obtain professional certification as a construction manager or professional project manager in the State of South Carolina. Knowledge of principles and practices of modern architecture, design engineering and facility construction/maintenance.
