The Psychiatry Department at our organization is looking for a Hospital-Based Psychiatrist to become part of our academic faculty at either the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This role presents a distinctive chance to integrate inpatient psychiatric care with the education of residents and medical students in a collaborative academic setting.
The chosen candidate will lead inpatient teams and provide consultation services in both the hospital and emergency room, while also actively engaging in the education, supervision, and mentorship of psychiatry residents and medical students as part of our ACGME-accredited residency program.

Our Psychiatry Department features a 26-bed acute inpatient unit, a consultation-liaison service that attends to patients throughout the hospital, an outpatient psychiatry teaching clinic, an outpatient practice, and an integrated care program across various clinical locations. Our residency program comprises 28 residents and provides training for medical students from Albany Medical College, physician assistant students, psychology practicum students, interns, and post-doctoral fellows.
Key Responsibilities:Deliver direct hospital-based psychiatric care, including inpatient and consultation-liaison services, as well as ECT.
Engage in psychiatric evaluations and manage patients in both the hospital and emergency department.
Instruct and oversee psychiatry residents and medical students in clinical and didactic environments.
Work alongside residency leadership to enhance resident education, evaluation, and mentorship.
Contribute to curriculum development, scholarly activities, and quality improvement projects.
Participate in departmental and residency training committees as needed.
Assist with weekend and departmental call schedules, with additional compensation provided.
Research and academic interests are welcomed and supported.
MD, DO, or an equivalent degree.
Board certified or board eligible in General Psychiatry.
Eligible for medical licensure in New York State.
Proven interest in resident education and academic psychiatry.
Excellent interpersonal and collaborative abilities.
Attractive base salary starting at $262,500, determined by academic rank and experience.
