Summary You will serve as a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the SONAR BRANCH (CODE 292), COMBAT SYSTEMS DIVISION, ENGINEERING and PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Duties Help You will evaluate project objectives, perform complex engineering calculations and identify most economical and efficient procedures for performance verification. You will prepare and review correspondence, such as job summaries, task group instructions (TGIs), deficiency logs (DLs), deficiency Reports (DRs), technical reports, estimates, status reports, instructions and procedures. You will provide sequence of work and manning requirement information to project and department managers. You will prepare scheduling documents, status reports, milestone charts, "game plans", estimates and other management documents for assigned systems. Requirements Help Must be a US Citizen. Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience directing and planning, installation, and testing of equipment and systems involved during a ship's overhaul period. Experience preparing and reviewing correspondence, such as Job Summaries, Task Group Instruments (TGIs). Experience administering Deficiency Logs (DL's), Deficiency Reports (DR's), technical reports, estimates, status reports, instructions and procedures. Experience negotiating projects with managers and ship force support to gain approval and testing authority.
