Custodian Position

Reports To: Building Principal/Custodial Director

Terms Of Employment: 12 Months According To School Calendar

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated record of successful employment.
• Must successfully pass a physical assessment including a material handling lift test up to 60 pounds.
• Communication skills and ability to work in a professional manner including confidentiality.
• Knowledge in operation of buffing machines, scrubbers, vacuums, and other cleaning equipment.
• Ability to work without close supervision.
• Possess basic swimming skills (Northview High School only).
• Must complete all training as required by Sylvania Schools and/or the Ohio Department of Education.

Responsibilities:

• Custodial/Janitorial work, clean and sanitize bathrooms and hallways as a regular part of the building work schedule.
• Assume responsibility for the general security of the building.
• Promptly report needed repairs to building coordinator.
• Coordinate with other custodians' work schedules for repairs to building and event set-up/break-down.
• Custodial work is a regular part of the building work schedule.
• Maintain adjacent school and building grounds.
• Shovel snow and salt walks and steps as needed during building usage.
• Must be able to climb a ladder.
• Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all crash bars are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
• Move furniture or equipment within the building as required for various activities and as directed by the Principal and/or Custodial Director.
• Must perform building maintenance (change filters, clean gutters, change lights, etc.
• Responsible to enter personal absences on Red Rover and Time Management, and to communicate same-day absences to the Human Resources Department.
• Responsible to check your district email account on a regular basis, and to communicate as needed via email.
• Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as necessary to assure successful daily operation of the building.
