Corporate Actions Operations Specialist

Overview Our client, a leading organization in the financial services industry, is seeking a Business Operations Specialist V - Corporate Actions to join their team. As a Business Operations Specialist V, you will be part of the Corporate Actions group supporting a transformation program for voluntary corporate actions involving equity, fixed income, and other securities. A key focus of this position is to help design and implement a new corporate action process, working closely with external vendors to optimize workflows, enhance automation, and ensure a seamless end-to-end experience. You would be an integral part in helping design processes, controls, and support business testing. In this position, you will foster collaboration with internal stakeholders and maintain relationships with external vendors to mitigate risk and maximize process efficiency. After transformation, you will support activities related to corporate actions processing for the firm ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient handling of corporate actions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent communication, strong stakeholder management skills, and a proactive mindset, which will align successfully in the organization. Job Title: Business Operations Specialist - Corporate Actions Location: Owings Mills, Maryland or Baltimore, MD (Hybrid - 4 Days Onsite) Pay Range: $70/hr - $75/hr W2 Job Type: 6-Month Contract (Potential for Long-Term or Contract-to-Hire) Responsibilities Oversee the identification, analysis, and processing of voluntary corporate actions, including mergers, acquisitions, dividends, stock splits, tender offers, and reorganizations. Partner with vendors and relevant stakeholders to design, implement, and refine a new corporate action process, focusing on operational efficiency, automation, and risk reduction. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls throughout the corporate actions lifecycle. Develop and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and risk mitigation. Serve as a subject matter expert on corporate actions, providing guidance to internal partners and clients. Liaise with custodians, vendors, and counterparties to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate information flow. Collaborate with other teams such as Operations, Portfolio Management, and Legal to support enterprise-wide initiatives. Monitor and report on key performance indicators, issues, and risks related to corporate actions. Lead or participate in projects involving system enhancements, technology upgrades, and workflow optimization. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in finance, operations, or related field with at least 8+ years of relevant experience within financial services, asset management, or securities operations. Past supervisory experience within the financial industry is preferred. Deep hands-on expertise in full end-to-end corporate actions processing and operational risks (must have direct experience in corporate actions and working with custodians - not just middle office exposure). Proven ability to drive process improvements and manage change effectively, with experience in agile implementation and driving enhancement of systematic workflows. Adept in defining, designing, and mapping financial processes - including implementing controls, safeguarding, identifying risks, and business process management (BPM) mapping. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities. Proactive focus with ability to deliver within tight deadlines with accuracy, precision, and efficiency. Experience working with external vendors to develop or optimize operational processes (experience working with BNY or S&P is preferred).
