Associate Director of Automation

Associate Director of Automation role at AstraZeneca in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Provide technical leadership in OT/automation systems, translate business requirements into technical strategies, and oversee delivery of complex engineering solutions across manufacturing environments while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise across OT/automation engineering domains
- Lead delivery of technical solutions from design through commissioning, collaborating with stakeholders and partners
- Translate business needs into technical strategies and guide technology selection and implementation
- Guide application of industry standards including URS, DQ/FAT/SAT, and GMP throughout project lifecycle
- Drive technical improvements by identifying innovations, applying best practices, and mentoring engineering teams
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in field with SCADA/PLC or DCS systems
- Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline or equivalent 5+ years experience
- Subject matter expertise in SCADA/PLC or DCS specification, procurement, installation, and commissioning
- Fluent English with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience with IT and OT architectures, integration, warehouse control systems, or OT cybersecurity
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical manufacturing or regulated industry environments
- Knowledge of GMP regulations and engineering standards development
