This position performs a variety of diagnostic cardiac/vascular exams under the direction of a physician for identification of cardiac or venous abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis.

Check out this video and learn more and discover the “Power of We.” As an Echo/Vascular Technician at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by: Essential Functions
Competency; Must demonstrate technical competence for performance protocols specific to the department. Prioritize and schedule exams. Coordinate exams with medical staff, physician offices, other caregivers and patients. Prepare for the exam by following patient identification processes, educating patient and family on procedure, and transporting the patient. Perform ultrasound exams consistent with related protocols and in a timely manner. Ensure patient safety and comfort and achieve quality outcomes. Throughout the exam, identify patient needs and appropriately communicate and coordinate patient care with physicians, other caregivers, patient, and family. After the exam, return patient to room and ensure patient stability and safety. Mentor caregivers and students on basic equipment use and procedural technique. Appropriately document exam results and other needed information. Apply appropriate charge codes for exams and supplies. Clean and maintain equipment, work area, and stock supplies. Follow appropriate channels to coordinate repair or supply needs. Support team and quality improvement processes and initiatives. Participate in educational opportunities to ensure clinical competence and develop additional skills and knowledge. Provide education for other caregivers, fellows, and students as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications Echo Technologist I
ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified. 1+ year of experience Minimum Qualifications Echo Technologist II
ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. Must achieve each of the following areas: Must meet all Echo/Vascular Technologist I qualifications Certification/Registry
Obtain any two of the national registry credential(s) through ARDMS, CCI, or ACS as applicable to the department: Vascular technology RPHS (Registered Phlebology Sonographer) TCD (Transcranial Doppler) Adult Echo Adult Congenital Echo Advanced Cardiac Sonographer Obtain / Maintain a minimum of one registry with the following years of experience:
Ten or more years of echocardiography experience Five or more years of echocardiography experience with an Associates Degree Demonstrated competency requirements: (Participate in either of the following)
Must complete a minimum of 1500 studies as related to credentials Must have documented Echo Medical Director review of a minimum of 5 studies in addition to a supervisory skills pass off of a minimum of 20 studies. (Must use IMH health approved form)
Internal applicants must furnish upon application External applicants must complete within 3 months of hire Formal written recommendation by each of the following:

ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. Must achieve each of the following areas: Certification/Registry Obtain any three of the national registry credential(s) through ARDMS, CCI, or ASN as applicable to the department or years of service.
Obtain a minimum of one registry with the following years of service: ≥15+ years of echocardiography service or
≥10+ years of echocardiography service + bachelor’s or master’s Degree
Competency (Documented supervisory skills pass off required for one or more of the following- Must use IMH approved form) Echo
Adult congenital
Pediatric
Structural heart intervention
Cath Lab/OR
Aortic valve interventions
Mitral valve interventions
Tricuspid valve interventions
Pulmonic valve interventions
Valve-in-valve procedures
Alcohol ablation for HOCM
Lead extractions
Perivalvular leaks or septal closures
Vascular surgery assist
Competency vascular pelvic congestion

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.) May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time. For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles. Location:
