About the role! 

This position is responsible for conducting occupational therapy evaluations, sensory integration assessments, and motor skills interventions for children in grades K-12 in a school-based setting. Therapist work is directly related to helping each student improve school-based functioning, fine motor skills, gross motor coordination, executive functioning, and sensory regulation when deficits negatively impact that child’s ability to access the curriculum and benefit from classroom instruction.

Coordinating OT services with the student’s team, the Occupational Therapist (School OT / Pediatric OT) plans, conducts, monitors, and reports on each student with that designated instructional service, aligned with IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals and special education services.

  As an Occupational Therapist , you will:  

• Conduct formal and informal occupational therapy assessments, including standardized (norm-referenced) evaluations, as part of a student’s triennial review

• Manage a caseload of students receiving direct and consultative school-based OT services.  

• Provide OT services as dictated by IEPs (Individualized Education Programs)

• Prepare and update written annual IEP goals, progress reports, and therapy documentation

• Monitors student progress against established IEP goals and regularly communicates with the student's team and parents regarding par ticipatio n and progress.  

• Attend all school staff meetings, department meetings, and IEP meetings.  

• Maintain and select adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and sensory tools for individual and classroom use

• Communicate regularly with teachers, parents/guardians, and interdisciplinary team members on a regular basis to ensure carryover of skill development across school settings .  

• Completes in-services on areas of expertise related to student skill development in the academic setting .  

• Develops & monitors student programs related to IEP goal s, ensur ing progress across settings.  

• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

• Knowledge and application of evidence-based occupational therapy practices

• Knowledge of basic computer skills in order to communicate via email and preparing documents on a word processor and complete progress notes within electronic health record .  

About your background (education/experience );  

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (OT), Pediatric Therapy, or related field from an accredited college or university required

• Valid California Occupational Therapy license or equivalent OTR (Registered Occupational Therapist) certification

• Minimum of three years post-licensure experience in a pediatric clinic, school-based setting, or special education environment preferred

• Experience with school-based OT assessments, IEP services, and pediatric therapy interventions is highly preferred

Working Conditions:  

Physical Requirements:   

• Ability to undergo training and implementation of Pro-ACT crisis management system.  

• Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time for instruction and supervision.  

Special Job Requirements:   

• Ability to work certain evenings for scheduled events (Back to School Night, Achievement Night, S taff training, and IEP meetings etc.) .  

• Valid CA driving license preferred.
