Job Overview

The role of Superintendent is essential to the success of the projects at Rock Spring Contracting. A Superintendent must have the ability to run multiple large commercial construction jobs and have knowledge and experience in the construction industry.

Position Summary

The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all field operations related to drywall and framing on commercial construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with contract documents and quality standards. This role coordinates crews, subcontractors, materials, and equipment while maintaining productivity and resolving field issues. The Superintendent serves as the primary on-site liaison with general contractors, inspectors, and project management, ensuring clear communication and compliance with project requirements. Strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to safety and quality are essential to successfully deliver projects on time and within budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop good customer relationships to assure that you are the partner that helps drive the job with the General Contractor/customer or client. Effectively communicate with Project Superintendents and Management.
• Attend Pull Planning and Subcontractor meetings for assigned jobs and actively participate as construction voice for Rock Spring
• Attend meetings as scheduled by GC field personnel and actively participate as construction voice for Rock Spring
• Meet with PMs to discuss the status of jobs and project the job completions and manpower
• Weekly meetings to fill out job tracker reviewing what was accomplished last week and what is expected in the coming weeks
• Help to ensure lead time material is tracking to be on-site when needed
• Ensure manpower will be available to complete the jobs
• Review schedules and budgets and discuss any variations
• Monthly meetings for billing and ECAC
• Meet mid-month to review SOVs so that PM can bill accurately
• Meet end of month to project the coming months so PM can complete ECACs
• Meet before a job starts to understand the scopes
• Understand RSC scope to the GC so that extra work can be properly tracked
• Understand subcontractor scopes to ensure all subcontracted work is being completed as bought-out
• Determine, schedule and verify correct manpower for assigned jobs based on budget and schedule needs
• Assist PM team in assigning Foremen and Junior Foremen to jobs.
• Schedule appropriate manpower to ensure productivity is maximized and schedule durations are being met.
  • Keep informed of GC schedules and expectations to ensure we adhere to the timelines
  • Verify expected production is being completed
• Schedule manpower - Rock Spring Employees and subcontractors
• Assist in creating and enforcing access lists when required on jobs
• Use Verfico to schedule the manpower and to verify that scheduled manpower is showing up to the site and scanning into Verfico.
• Assist in resolving discrepancies between sub pay apps and timecards
• Fill in as acting foreman on assigned jobs as needed if coverage is not lined up or available
• Coordinate and complete service work requests

• Assist PM staff in pricing RFIs and field changes
  • Determine Labor needed for RFIs
  • Help PM determine material needed based on field conditions
• Employee management, recruitment and training
  • Work with Foremen to ensure staffing levels meet manpower needs
  • Identify and develop talent within the workforce to groom new lead mechanics, Junior Foremen and Foremen
  • Train field employees on Drywall trade skills and Rock Springs systems and procedures
  • Partner with the Safety Team in making jobsite safety a top priority
    • Ensure all employees know the safety procedures of RSC and the GC customers
    • Enforce safety while on-site
    • Support Foremen by providing safety training materials and toolbox talks
  • The Superintendent is critical in upholding the high-quality results that Rock Spring Contracting provides to our customers.
    • Walk jobs weekly with the Foremen to enforce quality control
    • Ensure timely completion of rolling completion lists and punch lists
  • Coordination of Rental Equipment and Tools necessary to complete jobs
    • Work with the PM to identify rental equipment needed
      • Schedule delivery of rental equipment
      • Ensure equipment is picked up when not needed
    • Determine necessary tools and equipment that will be needed on site
      • Have tools delivered to site by RSC delivery driver
      • Work with safety team to get safety equipment on-site prior to needing it
      • Order new tools and equipment as needed
    • Assist Foremen with ensuring material is on-site to achieve the expected production
    • Assist Foremen in performing field take-offs and material verifications as needed to verify stud heights, field conditions and site-specific conditions.
    • Assist Foremen in placing orders, scheduling deliveries and minimizing waste
    • Maintain vendor partner relationships by encouraging foremen to request materials with realistic lead times and delivery windows.
    • Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous experience in the construction field
• Strong leadership and ability to effectively resolve conflict
• Proficient in speaking and writing in English and Spanish
• Computer and Tech savvy, able to use iPad and associated programs
  • Verifico, Plangrid, Email, Safety, Various GC construction software
• Excellent in Blueprint and Specification interpretation
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work and tasks

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods standing, climbing ladders, bending and kneeling
• Ability to conduct site visits, including climbing ladders/scaffolding, walking, and lifting materials as needed.
• Must be able to see, hear, and communicate clearly to identify and address safety concerns.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time

Work Environment

• Combination of office and fieldwork, with potential exposure to various weather conditions and jobsite hazards.
• Regular travel may be required to multiple sites or locations.
