Location 111 south 5th street,Douglas, WY, 82633,United States Job Category Radiology Employee Type Full Time Non-Exempt Name Faith Pedersen Phone View phone number on click.appcast.io The Sonographer is responsible for all aspects of the Ultrasound department, including performing routine and STAT diagnostic ultrasound procedures for ED, inpatient, and outpatient patients in a hospital environment. This role assists physicians with invasive ultrasound procedures, evaluates appropriate ultrasound techniques and probe selection, and ensures comprehensive imaging in accordance with physician orders and Radiologist protocols under the indirect supervision of the Radiologist Requirements ARDMS Certification required, with one registry (Abdomen, OB, Etc.) ? BLS certification required. ? Two to three years’ experience as a Sonographer in a hospital or emergency/acute care setting preferred. Summary Perform the full range of diagnostic ultrasound exams (including emergent and STAT studies) per Radiologist protocols for ED, inpatient, and outpatient patients, under indirect Radiologist supervision. Prioritize and complete ED and urgent cases in collaboration with ED providers and nursing to support rapid clinical decision-making in emergency situations. Assist physicians with invasive ultrasound-guided procedures, including biopsies and vascular access, following hospital policies and sterile technique. Perform and evaluate ultrasound exams, ensuring accurate, complete imaging and proper documentation in the RIS/PACS systems and communicating pertinent findings to the Radiologist. Demonstrate competence with all imaging support equipment, including transducers, ultrasound systems, printers, RIS and PACS. Maintain exam rooms, patient waiting areas, and workspaces in a clean, orderly, and safe condition, consistent with hospital infection prevention standards. Explain ultrasound procedures to patients and families, answering questions to reduce anxiety while refraining from providing diagnosis or information that must come from a physician. Accurately assess, select, prepare, and administer IV and oral contrast materials per protocol and best clinical practices (if applicable to modality mix and scope of practice). Maintain competencies in ultrasound and, if hired as multimodality, in CT and diagnostic x-ray, and assist in other imaging areas as departmental needs require, including ED and OR coverage.
