Assistant Nurse ManagerLocation: White Plains, New YorkDepartment: WPH Nursing CCU_1Work Shift: NightWork Days: MON-FRIScheduled Hours: 8PM - 6AMHours Per Pay Period: 75Pay Rate/Range: $129,465 - $168,032Job Summary: In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager assures the delivery of quality department/clinical services in accordance with established hospital and regulatory/accreditation agency standards. Promotes a positive and professional image and is a role model, coach, mentor, problem solver and resource for staff and peers. Responsible and accountable for the overall operations of their assigned department. This includes and is not limited to development of department goals and objectives that are consistent with the hospital mission and strategic plan, the management of personnel, preparing/monitoring of and accountability for the department budgets. Responsible for management of FTE component of staffing budgets. Maintains 24-hour responsibility for nursing care provided on the unit. Collaborates with physicians and other members of the Health Care Team to assure the delivery of optimum age-appropriate patient care. Provides hospital supervision as required by the Division of Nursing. Participates in the development of Evidence based Standards of care for clinical area of responsibility. Assures employee compliance with hospital and Human Resources policies and procedures. Assures that employee competency and education requirements are satisfied as per hospital policy. Participates in the Performance Improvement Program as defined by the organization and the Division of Nursing. Assures the provision of a safe employee/patient environment. Maintains knowledge related to the operations of their department. Works collaboratively with all levels of the hospital interdisciplinary team and promotes the team concept within their department and hospital wide. Demonstrates positive customer service, fosters positive employee relations and assures that staff adheres to the Customer Service Behavioral Standards. Is supportive of hospital initiatives and projects and functions as a positive change agent. Participates in community service Essential FunctionsUnderstands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.Develops and submits departmental goals and objectives that are aligned with the Nursing and hospital strategic plans as required by the Division Administrator.Conducts Interviews, hires, evaluates, counsels and terminates employees as per hospital policy.Schedules staff based on budgeted staffing plan and department needs.Updates FTE component of staffing budgets on a continuous basisDevelops and submits operating and capital budgets and reports variances as required to the Division Administrator.Assures compliance with governmental, state regulations and accreditation standards.Assures completion of staff orientation, annual and ongoing competency and education requirements.Provides house supervision as required by the Division of Nursing.Attends and participates in educational programs or activities to maintain current level of knowledge or expertise to manage department.Periodically provides direct patient care as needed.Participates and assures department involvement in ongoing Performance Improvement initiatives to support quality metrics such as core measures and patient satisfaction as required.Develops evidence-based standards of care, policies and procedures, etc. as needed for area of responsibility.Ensures service excellence initiatives and achieves organizational goals for patient satisfaction.Attends all meetings as required.Conducts staff meetings monthly to update staff and/or address department issues and records meeting minutes for all staff.Utilizes multiple methodologies to communicate information.Adheres to safety standards for employees and patients.Participates in committees, task forces, projects, etc. as required.Submits all other work reports as required/requested by the Division Administrator.Integrates patient rights and nursing ethics into work practice.Adheres to the tenets of the Joint Commission National Patient Safety GoalsDelegates activities to staff according to the tenets of the NYS Nurse Practice ActAdheres to the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics.Adheres to all WPH standards of care, policies and procedures including dress code, code of conduct, behavioral standards, completion of annual mandatory education and completion of annual health assessmentCreates and maintains a culture of shared governance.Works with the Magnet program director to align initiatives with the strategic plan and critical components of a Magnet Organization.Performs all other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:BSN Required1-3 years Minimum of 2 years relevant acute care experience RequiredDemonstrates a basic knowledge of management skills (Low proficiency)Previous management/leadership experience preferred (Low proficiency)Ability to function as a staff RN (High proficiency)Demonstrates excellence in clinical skills (High proficiency)Excellent Communication Skills (written & verbal) (High proficiency)Teamwork (High proficiency)Adaptability (High proficiency)Planning, Organization & Delegation Skills (High proficiency)Strong Problem Solving, Judgment & Decision-Making Skills (High proficiency)Stress Tolerance (Medium proficiency)Requires continuous communication with patients, staff and visitors of all educational levels.
