Lab Assistant - Microbiology (PRN)

Lab Assistant position in microbiology at a clinical laboratory in Austin, Texas. The role involves specimen handling, preparation, data entry, and maintenance of lab equipment in a high-volume production environment. Training period of six weeks at full-time day shift.
Responsibilities
- Receive, sort, and prepare clinical specimens for testing and analysis
- Perform data entry and scanning of specimen and patient information
- Ensure lab equipment functions properly and perform routine maintenance
- Identify and resolve specimen-related issues
- Maintain clean, safe work environment and replenish supplies as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Comfort handling biological specimens and ability to accurately identify them
- Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
- Ability to pass standardized color blindness test
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and multitasking ability
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science (preferred)
