Industrial Electrician - San Jose/Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility Location: San Jose, CA Salary: $111,143.76 - $135,429.84 annually Job Type: Full-Time Schedule: Day shift, Monday through Friday. Occasional nights, weekends, holidays. Flexible schedules after probation. Responsibilities: Maintain, operate and adjust electrical primary power substations (4160 – 115 kV) including circuit breakers, relays, batteries and controls. Test low and high voltage electrical equipment such as transformers, variable‑frequency drives, high‑voltage switches, phase shifters and components of process control, telemetering, and cathodic‑protection systems. Diagnose problems and determine needed repairs or modifications. Install conduit and pull wiring for motors, control panels and lighting fixtures; review work orders, maintain activity logs and prepare requisitions. Design, fabricate and install electrical systems and components to ensure code compliance. Determine precautions and follow safe work procedures; check job sites for hazards. Attend meetings and act as liaison with contractors, vendors and other departments. Purchase electrical supplies, coordinate purchases, and choose vendors. Respond to emergencies, evaluate and take required actions, and determine if additional support is needed. Perform other related duties as needed. Minimum Qualifications: High‑school graduation or equivalent plus completion of a state or federal approved apprenticeship program. One (1) year of post‑apprenticeship experience delivering duties that include a minimum 12 kV or higher voltage substation construction, equipment maintenance, control and protective‑system troubleshooting in an industrial, utility or manufacturing environment. Successful completion of the California DIR Electrician Certification exam or documented proof of 8,500 hours of coursework and experience covering all areas of the California State Electrician Apprenticeship Standards (subcategory: residential, commercial, industrial wiring, intercom/signal, controls, underground work, trouble‑shooting, finishing, fixture hanging, solid‑state controls, stock and inventory). Possession of a valid California driver’s license. Substation Maintenance certification meeting OSHA 29 CFR 1910.269(a)(2)(vii) desirable.
