About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights, Every Other Weekend Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty License: License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience in high volume and high acuity Emergency Room Description: Telemetry, Labor and Delivery, Emergency and Critical Care Registered Nurses will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test onsite, day one. This is a pass/fail test. Holiday requests for time off will be considered, but not guaranteed. The unit has 28 beds, including 4 fast track beds, 2 trauma bays, and hallway beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 4. Electronic medical records are managed using a specific system. There is a Charge Nurse who does not take patient assignments. Nurse aides are present, with an EMT on each shift to perform technical duties. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend. Holidays are worked into the permanent staff rotation. Scrub colors are navy blue. Ventilators are available and in use. There is a hospitalist and intensivist available 24/7. Respiratory therapy is available round-the-clock. Pharmacy services are also available 24/7. On-call duty is required one day per month, potentially two days if it falls on a scheduled team rotation. Shift schedules are made at least two weeks in advance, with self-scheduling by seniority. Floating to other units is not required. Floor-specific orientation consists of 2 to 3 shifts. The unit serves approximately 155 patients per day, including trauma, stroke, pediatric, psychiatric, and other cases. Candidates must have 2 years of experience in the specialty and travel experience is preferred. The unit is focused on fostering a collaborative environment and seeks individuals who can lead efforts to engage teamwork in the Emergency Room. Travelers may take trauma patients depending on their experience. Experience in a Level II trauma setting or higher is preferred. Candidates should have a background in high volume, high acuity Emergency Room settings. Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment. Charting is done using a specified system. A BSN is not required.
