Senior Manager, Statutory Accounting

Oliver James is currently representing a growing insurance organization that's seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Statutory Accounting to join its finance team. This individual will play a key role in overseeing insurance accounting operations across both GAAP and Statutory reporting environments while supporting financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and broader finance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities


* Oversee insurance accounting activities on both a GAAP and STAT basis
* Research and interpret complex insurance accounting transactions and reporting requirements
* Partner cross-functionally to support the preparation of financial statements and regulatory filings
* Lead statutory reporting processes and coordinate closely with external auditors during annual audits
* Ensure compliance with NAIC and state insurance regulatory reporting requirements
* Monitor emerging accounting guidance and regulatory developments impacting the insurance industry
* Assist with process improvement initiatives and special projects across the finance organization
* Support the development and mentorship of junior accounting staff members


Qualifications


* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
* CPA designation preferred
* 7+ years of insurance accounting experience with exposure to both GAAP and STAT
* Strong understanding of insurance regulatory reporting requirements and accounting standards
* Experience working with insurance accounting/reporting platforms
* Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
* Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
* Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
