Welding Engineer

Welding Engineer Needed - Dundee, Michigan AreaA leading automotive supplier near Dundee, Michigan needs a Welding Engineer. This is a full time, permanent, direct hire salary exempt position offering competitive compensation, bonus potential, good benefits, paid holidays and paid vacation.ResponsibilitiesWorks on corporate strategic projects.Develop new welding technologies related to new products requirement.Support operations in acquiring the needed level of equipment knowledge.Provide key input into the development of departmental strategic goals along with identifying key measurable to support the departmental goals.Specify welding equipment, welding consumables, electrical and mechanical systems, robotic systems, and any related components associated with the welding process.Assist in development of the weld quality control process.Guides develops and tests welding methods, materials, processes and results.Assist quality assurance department in maintaining weld integrity. Interface with manufacturing and maintenance to resolve welding and welding system issues.Assist with MRO crib activities.Support project engineering on new and existing programs.Assist in the integration, start-up and debug of plant floor welding equipment.Champion assigned engineering changes, communicate and coordinate accordingly to all departments.Train, coach and mentor the welding process for weld engineers, manufacturing and skilled trades colleagues.Direct and/or participate in root cause analysis and team problem solving activities (ex. 8-D reports, department meetings, etc.).Review and resolve all weld cut and etch and destruct related issues.Initiate cross-functional equipment design reviews.Support new model launches and improvement teams.Support tool tryouts at supplier and in-house capability runs.Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; five years plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education & experience.Ability to work with Microsoft Office at an intermediate level.Ability to work with MQ1 and QAD Database.Demonstrates a high level of cooperation & commitment.Natural problem solver.Ability and willingness to learn.Adaptive to a fast-paced environment.Mechanical ability.MIG and spot-welding expertise.Experience with body-in-white (BIW) structural components.Experience working with MIG welding assembly equipment.Hands-on troubleshooting experience with laser welding systems and related equipment.Resistance spot welding (RSW) experience.Process improvement and continuous improvement experience.Quality leadership skills.Experience working across multiple manufacturing processes.Knowledge and exposure to non-welding functional areas.OEM experience with structural component and system development.Exposure to and experience with projection welding processes.To apply: If you are a high performer and would like to work for an equally high performing company and you think the above opportunity is appropriate for you, we invite you to submit your resume in Microsoft Word format to: View email address on click.appcast.io treat all resumes with strict confidentiality.
