Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.The Driller Assistant is responsible for working on a drilling team to operate various drill rigs to collect soil and rock samples for geotechnical engineering purposes.Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skillset, experience, qualifications, and other job-related duties.In addition to competitive compensation packages, when working with Intertek you can expect benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) with company match, generous vacation / sick time (PTO), tuition reimbursement and more.What you'll do:Assist with soil drilling, rock coring, soil/rock sampling, classifications, in-situ testing, and monitoring well installationAssist in the operations of various drilling rigsOperate support vehicle equipmentAssists Driller to manipulate, load, and unload drill rig toolingInteract with geotechnical engineers and project managers to understand drilling assignments and to relate field information to the officePrepare tooling and supplies for the day's tasksAssist in assembling and disassembling drill tooling potentially including but not limited to the following: solid-flight augers, hollow-stem augers, rock core barrel assembly kits, Shelby tube samplers, split-spoon samples, etc.Assists with the identification of boring locations through the use of GPS equipmentRetrieval and logging of soil/rock samplesCleaning and maintaining equipment as well as assisting in site clean up responsibilitiesMust be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at workMinimum Requirements and Qualifications:Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communicationRequires basic math skillsAbility to receive work instructions and follow tasksMust be able to work off shifts and overtimeMust be able to travel up to 5% of the timeValid Driver's License and reliable driving record (required)Preferred Requirements and Qualifications:HS Education or Equivalent (preferred)Experience assisting with drilling operations is preferred, but not required – WE WILL TRAIN!Physical Requirements:Ability to lift, move, push and pull up to 50 pounds frequently.
