Job Overview Crane Aerospace & Electronics, a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer based in Chandler, AZ, is hiring a Buyer II. Job Summary The Buyer II is responsible for managing all aspects of purchasing components from suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts for production. The role serves as the communication and logistics link between value streams, supervisors, marketing, scheduling, and purchasing. Essential Functions Communicate priorities and schedule changes to Outside Processing Suppliers on a daily basis to support changes in production requirements. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers. Communicate common supplier problems with leadership, procurement specialists, and other buyers. Monitor supplier orders to assure they are shipped on a timely basis to support the value stream. Obtain quotes from suppliers for production material and outside processing operations, and support customer proposals. Interact with sourcing teams to ensure best practices and greatest leverage in procurement, low‑cost region sourcing, supplier assessment & management. Publish daily shortage report to communicate current delivery information from suppliers. Manage supplier quality through the Non‑Conforming Report (NCR) process and minimize production impact by ensuring discrepant materials are addressed with manufacturing engineering, procurement quality, supervisors, and suppliers. Minimum Qualifications Experience: 5+ years of buying experience in a similar industry or equivalent supply‑chain knowledge; BA/BS in supply chain, business, or materials may substitute for 2 years of experience. Knowledge: In‑depth knowledge of the manufacturing process used in the operating unit; working knowledge of buying, ordering procedures, production planning, MRP, Kanban, and related computer systems. Skills & Abilities: Well‑developed communication skills; proficiency in Excel, Word, and Access; ability to coordinate materials and production schedules with multiple teams; strong analytical and negotiation skills; ability to perform math and logical computations. Education / Certification: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications BA/BS in supply chain, business, or materials‑related field. Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment. Experience with small‑business reporting. Eligibility Requirement This role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information. Final offers will be contingent on the ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export‑controlled information from the U.S. Government. As a U.S. Department of Defense contractor, applicants may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for classified information access.
