Department: Radiation Oncology | Reports To: Director-Radiology & Radiation Oncology A $26,000.00 hire-on bonus is available for this position. The payment schedule and distribution details will be discussed at the time of hire.

Job Summary: To work in coordination with a Radiation Oncologist to treat cancer with radiation therapy, carrying out course of treatment, operating radiation equipment and recording and monitoring patient's response. Radiation Therapists assist in localizing tumors, participate in treatment planning and deliver high doses of ionizing radiation prescribed by a Radiation Oncologist. Radiation Therapists are the primary liaison between patients and other members of the radiation oncology team. They also provide a link to other health care providers such as social workers and dietitians. The listing of job duties contained in this job description is not all inclusive. Duties may be added or subtracted at any time due to the needs of the organization.
To work in coordination with a Radiation Oncologist to treat cancer with radiation therapy, carrying out course of treatment, operating radiation equipment and recording and monitoring patient's response. Demonstrates ability to appropriately modify approach and procedures to meet needs of age/diversity of population served for the following age groups: ☐ Neonate (birth - 28 days) ☐ Infant (29 days - less than 1 year) ☐ Pediatric/Child (1 year - 12 years) ☐ Adolescent (12 years - 18 years) ☒ Adult (18 years - 65 years) ☒ Geriatric (over 65 years)
• Incorporates cultural considerations in the provisions of care.
• Knowledge of growth and developmental stages.
• Considers life changes/effects on health beliefs and behaviors.
• Provides necessary safety measures.
• Provides information and involves family/caregiver in decision making. 2. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the Radiation Oncology Department as defined in the scope of practice, to assure that the unique nature of the patient is addressed. This includes, but is not limited to the age of the patient served.
• Discusses and explains treatment plans to patients.
• Determines exact location to be treated
• Calibrates, operates and maintains radiation machine and equipment.
• Monitors patients for adverse reactions during treatments.
• Ensures accurate delivery of treatment using medical imaging equipment.
• Advises patients on treating side effects of therapy.
• Maintains detailed records of treatments and progress.
• Suggests changes to treatment plans when appropriate.
• Conducts research to assist in improving therapy methods.
• Supports team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

The requirements listed below must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required. EDUCATION (Minimum Requirements for Position): Required Preferred Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program. ☒ ☐
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Required
Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained within one full month from date of hire ☒
Current Radiology license from the State of Nebraska ☒
Previous Experience Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Required Preferred Previous clinical experience ☐ ☒ Skills/Knowledge Requirements: Language Skills - Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. ☒ ☐ Other Certifications/Requirements: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) ☒
Job Requirements: The requirements listed below must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required. EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained within one full month from date of hire (Travelers-required upon hire) required. EXPERIENCE: Previous clinical experience preferred. SKILLS: Language Skills - Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.
Other Certifications/Requirements: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
