Position Summary
The Mammography Technologist performs high-quality screening mammography examinations in accordance with physician orders, regulatory standards, and departmental protocols. This role is responsible for ensuring patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality while producing high quality images.
Responsibilities
- Perform screening mammography procedures according to established protocols.
- Position patients appropriately to obtain high-quality images.
- Explain procedures, answer patient questions, and provide compassionate care throughout the examination.
- Verify patient identity, physician orders, and medical history.
- Operate and maintain mammography equipment while adhering to quality assurance standards.
- Follow radiation safety guidelines and infection prevention protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and accreditation activities.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and administrative staff.
Qualifications Required
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Current ARRT certification in Radiography [R].
- ARRT certification in Mammography [M].
- Current state licensure (if applicable).
- Current BLS certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient-centered care.
- One or more years of mammography experience.
- Experience with digital breast tomosynthesis (3D mammography).
- Knowledge of MQSA and ACR quality standards.
