Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary We are seeking a per diem Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide on-site weekend psychiatric consultation services, including Emergency Department consultations, at Salem Hospital. Opportunities to provide additional weekday psychiatric consult coverage are available on an as-needed basis. Patient Care Yes Essential Functions Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to psychiatric patients. Completes biopsychosocial and psychopharmalogical evaluations on patients. Performs complete histories and physical examinations. Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests. Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings. Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures. Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries. Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population. Education Master's Degree in Nursing required. No experience in lieu of a degree. Licenses and Credentials Nurse Practitioner (NP) State License – Generic – HR Only required. Experience 2 years of experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner required.
