A 100% employee-owned company, we provide dedicated sales, rentals, parts, and service support for customers in tree care, landscaping, wood waste, organic recycling, underground construction, and mining industries.POSITION FUNCTION:The Service Assistant will perform tasks that contribute to a safe, clean work environment for all Service Technicians and customers. The Service Assistant will support the Service Department in maintaining an efficient department while learning the basics of the industry.ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Safely load and unload equipmentDaily inspections of forklift and shop equipmentClean, wash, grease and organize all equipmentClean wash baysMay include mowing and yard maintenanceRefuel and operate equipment, including forklift, as necessaryFirst assistant/attendant to Sales requiring machine traffic solution/loadingPerform and report bi-weekly yard inventoriesMonitor outside fuel containment/storage for capacity & safetyHelp maintain cleanliness, neatness and safety of employee areas, shop, yard and buildingSeasonally winterize equipmentRun/pick up parts if neededProvide general assistance around the shop, including administrative and technical tasksGreet customers and perform machine intake proceduresOpen workorders and add them to service schedule spreadsheetTake and upload digital pictures of equipmentClean and organize all shop toolsPerform HDD tooling/piercing tool repairsStay current with the latest trends and developments within your field and industry by continuing your education with Factory Service Schools, VGP Service Schools, Individual Development Plans, etc.Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in Employee HandbookOther duties as assignedMeasure of success determined by established company guidelines, including but not limited to the ability to successfully perform the above-mentioned functions, feedback from customers, ability to take guidance and direction from Manager professionally, and execute upon such feedback.QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Must be committed to and take a pro-active approach to our Company Mission, Vision and ValuesStrong PC proficiency with MS Windows and MS Office SuiteSelf-motivated with the capacity to analyze a situation and prioritize tasksFamiliarity with hand toolsAptitude for mechanics with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailDemonstrated safe work habitsHigh degree of customer service to both internal and external customersStrong ability to adapt to the people and environment around them - customers, suppliers, co-workers and manufacturer's employeesAbility to conduct yourself in a professional, ethical and reliable mannerStrong verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate professionally, respectfully and honestly at all timesAbility to operate industrial equipment, including forklift, overhead hoist, etc.Good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functionsMust be able to lift at least 50 lbs, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear 100% of the timeAbility to be exposed to extreme weather elements, including wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat regularlyAbility to withstand moderate to high noise level in working environment regularlyRegular attendance is requiredMust be able to work overtime and/or weekends as neededQUALIFICATIONS:High School diploma/GED and 1 year of experience in the same or similar role and/or industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience requiredEquipment operator experience requiredMust have a valid unrestricted Driver's License and ability to maintain one throughout employmentBackground check, pre-employment drug testing and clean driving record requiredFLSA status: Non-exemptEOEThe above-mentioned job description is not intended to describe, in detail, the multitude of tasks that may be assigned but rather to give a general sense of responsibilities and expectations of position.
