Patient Care CoordinatorOrtho Sport and Spine Physicians is a rapidly expanding orthopedic practice, with clinics throughout the United States. The practice specializes in providing state-of-the-art, minimally invasive treatment of complex neck and spine problems, as well as sports related injuries and conditions. The Patient Care Coordinator position is responsible for welcoming patients, setting appointments, and checking patients in and out, while maximizing patient satisfaction and utilization of treatment rooms. If you have a knack for providing stellar patient care, a passion for helping others, and a desire to grow professionally, keep reading because we have the perfect opportunity for you!Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiriesOptimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by checking in the patient in a timely fashionMaintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating demographic and financial informationSchedule patient appointments at the end of the visitMaintain open communication with pre-cert team regarding orders for daily patientsTracking and follow-up with patient cancellations and no showsPerforming daily audit of tasks assignedChecking patients in by EMR and verifying demographics and insurance informationFollowing up on outpatient referrals and surgical referralsProvides the patient with printout of appointmentsOther duties as assignedQualifications:HIPPA and OSHA compliance; promote a safe work environment at all timesExcellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with the patient, medical staff, insurance companies and others as relates to the caseCaring demeanor toward patients and co-workersClinical knowledge and familiarity with medical terminologyWorking knowledge of computers, fax, copiers and other technologyStrong knowledge and understanding of electronic medical records softwarePrior medical receptionist experience, preferably in an orthopedic setting is a plusStrong administrative skills, with attention to detail in accuracyBilingual (English/Spanish) is a plusEducation/Experience:High School Diploma or GED requiredAssociate or higher degree preferred1 year medical front desk experienceCustomer service backgroundOur Work Environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
