Host

Victor’s Cafe is seeking an experienced, polished, and welcoming Host to join our front-of-house team.

Located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, Victor’s Cafe has served Cuban cuisine and warm hospitality since 1963. We are a high-volume restaurant serving theatergoers, local guests, corporate clients, tourists, and private events.

This position is ideal for someone who can confidently manage a busy entrance, control the reservation book, communicate accurate wait times, and help maintain a smooth flow of service.

Responsibilities
• Welcome every guest warmly and professionally
• Manage reservations, walk-ins, wait times, and seating assignments
• Pace seating to balance server sections and support efficient service
• Maintain accurate guest notes, special requests, and reservation details
• Communicate table status and seating needs with managers and the service team
• Answer incoming calls and assist guests with reservation questions
• Recognize special occasions, VIP guests, and important reservation details
• Handle guest concerns calmly and involve a manager when appropriate
• Maintain a polished, organized, and welcoming entrance
• Assist with coat check and other front-door responsibilities as needed

Qualifications
• At least one year of host, reservations, or front-desk experience in a high-volume restaurant
• Fine dining or polished full-service restaurant experience preferred
• Experience with OpenTable or a similar reservation platform preferred
• Warm, confident, and professional communication skills
• Strong judgment and the ability to remain composed during busy service
• Comfortable communicating wait times and managing guest expectations
• Reliable, punctual, organized, and attentive to detail
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Spanish language skills are helpful but not required

Compensation is $22.00 to $24.00 per hour, based on experience.
