Associate Buyer, Chemicals & MRO Supply Chain

Salary Range: $55,000.00 To $67,000.00 Annually Job Posting: Associate Buyer, Chemicals & MRO Supply Chain Location : Oak Brook, IL Schedule : M-F office hours, option for 1-2 days remote per week after the first 90 days Status: Salaried, Exempt About the Role: Are you a recent graduate with a passion for supply chain, operations, or procurement? Join our Chemicals & MRO Supply Chain team as an Associate Buyer and build a strong foundation in purchasing, supplier management, and inventory operations. In this entry-level role, you’ll gain hands-on experience working with raw materials and support MRO requisition activities, collaborate cross-functionally, and develop the skills needed to grow into managing your own commodities. Key Job Responsibilities Purchasing & Order Management Create and process purchase orders based on forecasts and replenishment needs Track order confirmations, pricing, monitor delivery timelines, and follow up on ETAs Proactively identify and elevate supply risks (e.g., delays, lead time changes) Supplier Communication Communicate regularly with suppliers to confirm orders and shipment status Gather market updates and support issue resolution for routine discrepancies Inventory & Reporting Run and analyze reports on open orders, past-due items, and inbound shipments Maintain trackers for chemical categories (critical, stable, commodity) Documentation & Compliance Support supplier change notifications and documentation updates Coordinate the request of required chemical documentation (SDS, CoA, specs, etc.) Partner with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure compliance standards Support Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Chemical Qualification Support Track sample shipments and maintain approval logs Coordinate with internal teams on testing and qualification progress MRO Purchasing Convert requisitions into purchase orders Ensure accurate pricing, delivery, and receipt data Resolve routine receiving discrepancies Data Management & Collaboration Maintain accurate vendor and item master data in ERP systems Partner cross-functionally with Production, Receiving, and Quality teams to support operational needs Continuous Improvement Contribute ideas to improve purchasing processes, data accuracy, and supplier performance Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Chemistry, or related field 0–2 years of experience (internships or co-ops strongly preferred) Skills & Strengths Strong attention to detail and data accuracy Solid Excel skills (e.g., filters, pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP) Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Effective communicator with strong written skills Analytical mindset with basic understanding of supply/demand concepts Comfortable learning new systems and tools Why Join Us? Compensation The base pay for this position ranges from $55,000 to $67,000. Pay is based on a number of factors including job related knowledge, skills and experience. The job role is eligible for a discretionary bonus that may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
