Pediatric Care Unit Registered NurseAbout the unitWe are a 70-bed unit which includes 8 pediatric progressive beds. Our staff have the knowledge to care for many types of pediatric diagnoses which include, but are not limited to, oncology, hematology, endocrinology, neurology, general surgery, ortho, trauma, neuro, ENT surgeries, respiratory, adolescent medicine (disordered eating), gastroenterology, and more. Our healthcare team includes registered nurses, nursing assistants, clinical assistants, nurse practitioners, resident physicians, hospitalists, child life specialists, social workers, dieticians, physical & occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, chaplains, and others who are trained to provide compassionate and high-quality care for our pediatric patients.About Royal Oak HospitalRecognized by U.S. News & World Report as the #2 hospital in Michigan and one of the top hospitals in the country. The advanced capabilities and clinical expertise within this center have earned it Magnet designation four consecutive times and has the distinct honor of housing Michigan's first Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence.Scope of workThe RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.QualificationsAssociates or Diploma in Nursing RequiredBachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years if new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year experienceGraduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examinationMI Registered Nurse (RN) required or if new grad within 60 days of hireAHA, ARC, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire/transferPALS required within 1 year of hire/transferSpecialty Certification highly recommended within 2 yearsPrefer RN experienced. Highly Prefer Pediatric experience.
