Join us and redefine your personal best.Are you ready to join our Instrumentation and Controls team?Your Key ResponsibilitiesA successful applicant will work with a multidisciplinary group of engineers and designers providing technical services to public and private-sector clients. Primary duties will include control systems engineering, process control strategy planning, automation designs, construction support services, and planning studies with detailed analyses. These designs will be related to water and wastewater treatment plants and related facilities. Experience with equipment selections, equipment and communication network layouts, and process control design coordination with other engineering disciplines is required. Candidates should be at ease with core aspects of PLC, HMI and SCADA system planning, design, programming, and upgrades.The successful applicant is expected to be proficient in the following areas.Design Activities, including:Developing preliminary scope definitions, budgets, and staffing plans,Field review and evaluation of existing equipment, control systems (hardware and software) and control panels,Preparing studies, conceptual reports, and technical memorandums,Conducting I&C engineering and analyses related to various water, wastewater, and industrial waste treatment facilities,Supporting multi-disciplinary teams with engineering design projects and studies,Developing construction documents (drawings, specifications, and schedules). Drawings for construction include: - Database driven Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's),Detailed network communication architecture diagrams,Control panel details,CCTV and Access Control System drawings, Point-to-Point Wiring Diagrams, andInstrument installation details.Development of technical specifications, instrument datasheets, and detailed control strategies / narratives, andSenior review and evaluation of - Electrical schematic diagrams and plans.Review and evaluation of mechanical specifications with controlscontent.Review and evaluation of process flow diagrams and design criteria; andCoordination of I&C deliverables with the process, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.Construction support activities:Review of Contractor and Supplier submittals, andParticipate in construction site inspections,Support of equipment and control system commissioning, start-up, and performance testing, andAssist with system troubleshooting.Marketing Support Activities would be considered an asset, including:Assisting marketing team with project pursuit strategies,Presentation material development,Presentation participation, andServing as I&C discipline subject matter expert.Working in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.Your Capabilities and CredentialsPossess solid interpersonal skills for working in a team environment (virtual or in-person).Possess strong oral and written communication skillsability to convey project I&C needs to the project managers and clients, and to formulate those needs into comprehensive plans and specifications.Ability to mentor junior to intermediate staff and work with remotely located project team members.Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.Education and ExperienceBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering is required; 15 years of experience in instrumentation and controls.Possess Professional Engineering registration (P.Eng.) or the ability to obtain within 18 months of hire date is required.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Stantec is a place where the best and brightest come to build on each other’s talents, do exciting work, and make an impact on the world around us. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
