Regional Merchandising Manager - OH, PA, WV

Purpose This position supports the successful execution of perimeter operation (meat, produce and perimeter merchandising) in Corporate stores. The role works with District Managers and Regional Directors to improve execution and increase sales, and directly supports the retail operations team in enhancing meat and produce sales and profitability. The incumbent collaborates with procurement and merchandising to develop and sell perimeter, meat, and produce items to best‑in‑class standards and coordinates regional variations in perimeter merchandising, promotion, and store scripting with the field. They ensure proper execution through training and counseling of District Managers and store associates on Meat, Produce and Perimeter Merchandising operations and assist in programs, training, and corrective actions to reduce shrink in corporate stores. Responsibilities Collaborate to establish and coordinate the execution of the perimeter, including regional variations to promotions and selling efforts for Meat, Produce and Perimeter Merchandising in Corporate stores. Plan, coordinate, and participate in training efforts across the Business Unit for Corporate stores; lead the role ensuring District Managers are knowledgeable in Merchandising the perimeter and in perishable operations. Lead efforts with retail operations, coordinating with District Managers and Retail Business Unit Directors, to improve sales and profitability and purchase concentration. Ensure Food Safety and sanitation standards are consistently maintained in all stores and address Food Safety issues promptly with corporate retail operations. Track and record instances of concern and resolution. Manage and direct Perishable Counselors to support meat cutting and produce operations. Train, develop, assist, and counsel Perishable staff in stores. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be 18 years of age. Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent, extensive retail experience including hands‑on experience in cutting fresh meat, merchandising fresh meat and Meat Department operations. Experience managing staff preferred. Positive attitude. Ability to plan, present and effectively implement projects and initiatives. Ability to work within a team environment. Excellent leadership skills, including leading peers. Proficient in Microsoft products such as Office, Excel, Word, and Power Point. Effective communication skills and the ability to train individuals or groups on all aspects of perishable operations. Knowledge and practice of food safety and sanitation regulations and requirements. Knowledge of retail operation metrics and shrink controls. Knowledge of the customer, their needs and wants, and unique aspects of the market. Strong people‑leadership capabilities, including the ability to build strong working relationships. Demonstrated sense of urgency with the ability to drive and sustain positive change in the organization. Physical Requirements Requires the ability to reach, bend, balance, lift and transport various objects weighing 20–50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift; occasionally up to 50–80 pounds. Must be able to stand, walk, and/or move about for extended periods of time. Requires the ability to push, pull, grasp, twist, and use sawing motions for extended periods of time. Works regularly in freezers, coolers, refrigerators, inside and outside of the store in all weather conditions and inside delivery trucks.
