The main responsibility of the Deli Cook is to prepare all Deli cold case and hot case items, as well as, soups, entrees based on the daily production schedule. The Deli Cook will also assist in miscellaneous duties, including, but not limited to, filling the Deli case and salad bar when it gets low, maintaining the back coolers and cleaning.Our Values:Service: We will treat every customer like a beloved family member or friend and find a way to say "yes" to our customers. We will be quick to respond to our customers and use "Red Truck Service" when additional assistance is needed.Work ExperienceDuties/ResponsibilitiesServe customers in the Deli Department while modeling Sendik's culture and providing "best in class" customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, delighting and thanking every guest for their businessCook all items for the deli cold case and hot bar, including, but not limited to, packaged foods, entrees, salads and soups while adhering to and following company recipes.Ensure that the deli case, wall and hot bar is always full and fresh with the best quality deli productsObserve and evaluate trends to determine the type and quantity of food to produceSupport special event stations (ex. Fish Fry), including Sendik's and customer eventsAnswer questions regarding products and ingredients, offering suggestions and recommendations when appropriateMaintain and update daily and weekly reports (sanitation, temperature and cooling logs)Ensure the kitchen is clean, organized and ready each dayAssist with training and coaching of new associates within the Deli DepartmentAssist with events when needed, including Sendik's events and customer eventsPackage, price and label Deli itemsAssist Deli Department with stocking, rotating and facing the Deli wallOperate, maintain and clean deli equipment including knives, ovens, fryers, dishwashers, coolers and slicersMaintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and proceduresAssist with all other Deli Department duties as neededQualifications:Must be a minimum of 18 years of age due to required operation of Deli equipmentPrevious cooking experience preferredAbility to work effectively under pressure, in a fast paced environmentProficient knife handling skillsEagerness to interact with customersAbility to take initiative and make decisions independently regarding department needs and priorities, under general supervisionStrong sense of team – ability to anticipate the needs of the teamAbility to stand, walk, lift, bend, push/pull for extended periods of timeAbility to lift up to 50 pounds
