Career growth and development Tuition Assistance Diverse and collaborative working environment Affordable and comprehensive benefits package Location Johns Hopkins Hospital, Bayview, MD – Phlebotomy Lab Full Time/Night Shift 11:00pm-7:30am, Weekends rotating required Will consider Lab Tech I, II or Lab Tech Certified Phlebotomist Position Summary As an essential duty & primary role – this position requires that all LT‑CPs utilize their phlebotomy skills on a regular basis. Performs various specimen collection and phlebotomy techniques for inpatients and/or outpatients, including occult and gastric blood tests, urine pH and volume, and waived laboratory tests. Handles specimen processing including accessioning, receiving, liquating, labeling, and inventory management. Adheres to procedures and protocols for verifying patient identifiers and all assigned activities, demonstrating excellent customer service and compassionate patient care. May perform data entry, specimen processing, billing functions, and patient registration and pre‑analytic set‑ups. Maintains high competency for all required skills and knowledge and serves as a mentor supporting associated department initiatives, projects, and training. May act as “charge tech” for processing and phlebotomy when trained and assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent with biology, chemistry, and mathematics coursework and completion of accredited phlebotomy training qualifying for certification. Eligibility for ASCP‑PBT certification requires completion of a NAACLS‑approved phlebotomy program within the last five years, or a formal two‑part training program of 40 hours classroom, 100 venipunctures, and 25 skin punctures, or certification in another allied health profession that includes phlebotomy training. Work Experience Two or more years of on‑the‑job or equivalent phlebotomy experience. Certification required. Advancement to Lab Tech‑Certified Phlebotomist available for current staff meeting eligibility requirements and at least two years of JHH employment in Lab Tech/Phlebotomy positions. Required Licensure, Certification, On‑Going Training Phlebotomy certification required (ASCP‑PBT or equivalent from an approved agency). Continuous maintenance of verifiable certification at all times. Salary Range Minimum $20.53 per hour – Maximum $33.90 per hour. Compensation commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
