Description:
This position involves working in the Operating Room.
There are seven suites available for surgeries.
The average number of cases per day ranges from 22 to 45 across various specialties.
Occasional add-on cases may be required, and about 35-40% of cases are add-ons.
The surgical team performs both inpatient and outpatient cases.
No neuro surgeries are performed in this unit.
Required certifications include BLS and a state license; national certification is not mandatory.
The electronic medical record system used is EPIC.
A charge nurse is present on every shift for support.
Call requirements include 5-6 call days, starting at 9 PM and ending at 6:30 AM.
Weekend call requirements involve one 12-hour day shift and one 12-hour night shift.
Response time for call is 30 minutes.
Holiday coverage is managed through a rotation system.
Floating to different areas may be necessary based on experience.
Common surgical cases include general surgery, bowel resections, gynecological procedures, urology, and lithotripsy.
Special provisions for housing may be needed as it can be challenging to secure.
Cancellation policy allows for shifts to be canceled under specific conditions.
Scrubbing for procedures is a requirement in this role.
