Overview Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Cornell 2 Neuro Oncology unit. This is a full‑time rotating shift position in Charlottesville, VA. Shift times: Night shift 7 p.m.–7 a.m.; day shift 7 a.m.–7 p.m. The hours will be confirmed based on business needs. New graduates are highly encouraged to apply. Sign‑on bonus up to $20,000 is available for qualified candidates. Unit Description Cornell 2 specializes in Neuro Oncology, urology, vascular and chest tube care, providing a dynamic environment for experienced nursing professionals and new graduates. The patient‑to‑nurse ratio is 1:5/1:6. You will develop your skills while receiving mentorship from experienced staff. The unit cares for a diverse patient population, including individuals with CHF, COPD, oncology patients with neutropenia or new diagnoses, and amputations. 12‑hour shifts with weekend rotations are offered. The team is led by a clinical manager and a 2025 Clinical President’s Award winner. Responsibilities The Registered Nurse provides competent nursing care using the nursing process. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. The RN demonstrates professional performance standards such as ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality improvement, resource utilization, and environmental health. Education Degree or diploma in registered nursing (required). Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred. Students completing an accredited nursing program (after program completion). Certification / Licensure Registered nursing license (required). Students obtaining RN license during the program. BLS required within 90 days of hire. Experience No prior experience required. 1 year of acute care preferred. Previous healthcare experience preferred.
