Breast or Breast and Melanoma Surgical Oncologist

Position Overview

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is recruiting a full‑time surgical oncologist to join a breast and melanoma surgical oncology practice. Fellowship‑trained board‑certified or board‑eligible surgeons at all experience levels are encouraged to apply. The practice is supported by a multidisciplinary team that manages breast cancer and melanoma patients, including breast surgery, reconstruction, medical oncology, radiation oncology, and imaging specialists.

Responsibilities

• Perform breast and melanoma surgeries, with >80% of surgical consultations proceeding to operative management.
• Collaborate with internists, radiologists, reconstructive surgeons, oncologists, and radiation oncologists to provide comprehensive care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary breast and melanoma clinics for complex patients and neoadjuvant therapy cases.
• Engage in clinical, translational, and basic science research, including injectable and cellular therapies and clinical trials.
• Teach and mentor residents through the ACGME‑accredited general surgery residency program and train three breast surgical oncology fellows and one complex general surgical oncology fellow.

Qualifications

• Board‑certified or board‑eligible in General Surgery with a Breast Surgical Oncology or Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in Minnesota.
