Registered Dental Hygienist

Job Summary

We are seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist to provide comprehensive dental hygiene services in an onsite correctional healthcare environment . The selected professional will work within the Health Services Department providing dental hygiene care to adults in custody.

The position requires someone comfortable working in a structured correctional setting and interacting professionally with individuals from diverse cultural, regional, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

Perform scaling and root planing (SRP), periodontal maintenance, and prophylaxis as indicated.
Perform comprehensive periodontal charting, probing, and documentation.
Provide individualized oral hygiene instructions.
Monitor patients' oral hygiene and periodontal conditions.
Complete dental X-rays as directed by the dentist.
Sterilize instruments used for prophylaxis and other dental procedures.
Complete required scheduling and dental hygiene-related documentation.
Administer local anesthesia as needed.
Follow applicable federal/state regulations and accepted dental hygiene standards.
Maintain compliance with applicable correctional healthcare and accreditation standards.

Work Environment

This is an onsite correctional healthcare position within a Health Services Department. The role involves frequent and potentially unsupervised interaction with adults in custody and requires adherence to facility security, safety, and professional conduct requirements.

Professional attire is required. Business attire or approved black/blue scrubs may be worn, with a lab coat or smock as required.

Required Qualifications

Must be a licensed/certified Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) in any U.S. state or U.S. territory.
Must be able to provide license/board certification documentation.
Strong clinical dental hygiene skills.
Ability to work effectively in a correctional healthcare environment.
Ability to comply with applicable federal, state, healthcare, and facility regulations.

Schedule

Monday Friday, 7:30 AM 4:00 PM , excluding federal holidays, with a 30-minute unpaid meal period. Schedule may be adjusted based on facility needs. The position normally does not exceed 40 hours per week.

Additional Information

The institution will provide the supplies and equipment normally required to perform the services.

Important: Candidates should be comfortable working in a correctional facility environment and following associated security and safety procedures.
