RN (Registered Nurse)

Registered Nurse (RN)We are looking for Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team! The Medical Health Associates of WNY (MHA) is the largest pediatric group practice in Western New York, and the RN plays an important role in helping our patients pursue a healthy future, by providing high quality care to pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients in an office setting. This is an on-site position, not eligible for remote work.Full-time positions are available at the following offices:Tonawanda Pediatrics (West Amherst)Transit Meadow Pediatrics (East Amherst)Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate the primary goal of customer satisfaction through positive interactions with patients, parents, providers, colleagues, and other members of the patient care team in a respectful, courteous, confidential, and caring manner.Provide and assist with direct patient care including exam/procedure prep, screenings, initial assessments (for sick and well visits), patient exams, and clinical procedures.Efficiently carries out administration and documentation of medications, immunizations and obtaining specimens as ordered by the providers.Assist providers with clinical procedures (such as suturing, and obtaining specimen for culture), and conduct catheterizations.Administer nebulizer treatment. Obtain respiratory rate, pulse ox, pulmonary functions, and peak flow meter, when applicable.Respond promptly and professionally to emergency situations.Assist with stocking supplies and cleaning/preparing rooms and equipment.Schedule visits which are timely, appropriate, and sensitive to patient needs as clinically indicated and/or as directed by supervisors of the care team.Gather patient information by telephone (medical history, current symptoms, common newborn/childhood questions); provide recommendations. Prepare and review patient records to meet specifications for triage messages, documentation, and organization.Communicate with parents/patients regarding questions arising from visit, follow-up instructions or scheduling of additional testing as directed by supervisors of the care team.Provide health education information and health teaching to parents/patients as directed by the provider.Accurately communicate to pharmacies any necessary information needed per provider. This may include verbal prescription requests or prior authorizations.Participate in quality assurance/quality improvement programs and activities within the practice setting.Attend and participate in required in-service and mandatory meetings for continuous quality improvements.Support change and new programs to improve patient care and staff morale.Coordinate care with disease management as directed by Provider.Follow policy/procedure to perform, record and report laboratory tests while maintaining universal precautions and infection control precautions.Protect the privacy and security of confidential and sensitive patient information.Assist with training and serve as a resource for other staff.Perform any other tasks as assigned by the nurse manager, or as directed by a provider.Essential SkillsEnjoy working with infants, children, teens, and young adults.Customer service skills, interpersonal skills, and team player mentality.Display empathy, compassion, patience, sensitivity, and understanding.Strong communication skills.Organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.Ability to work well under pressure and remain calm.Flexibility and Adaptability.Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.Demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.Display initiative, motivation, and a willingness to learn.Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional ethics.Basic care techniques; knowledge in measuring/administering medication.Core ValuesMHA employees make a positive IMPACT by demonstrating the Company's Core Values while in the workplace: Integrity, Making a Difference, Positivity, Adaptability, Compassion, and Teamwork.Education and Experience:Graduate of an approved program for Registered Professional Nurse.Current NYS Licensure and registration required.Current CPR Certification.One year experience preferred in: pediatric, clinical, or office nursing.Triage experience preferred.Basic computer literacy.Proficiency with medical record technology.MEDENT experience/knowledge preferred.Compensation:The range of pay for this position is $30.39 - $34.00 per hour. Starting pay will vary based upon education and experience.
