Aerospace Engineer, Air Systems

The Aerospace Engineer, Air Systems position is responsible for supporting the development, testing and certification of aircraft cabin temperature controls, low pressure cabin air distribution, avionics cooling, cabin pressurization, fire protection and anti-ice systems. This role requires the significant exercise of independent discretion and judgment in matters of significance.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

1. Review and support Certification Activities , including but not limited to:
   1. Create and review Certification Plans.
   2. Create and review Component Qualification Test Plans, Qualification Test Procedures and Qualification Test Reports.
   3. Review qualification by similarity and/or analysis reports.
   4. Review system safety documents (PSSA, SFHA, AFHA, SSA and Particular Risk Analysis).
   5. Create, review and approve ground test procedures, flight test procedures and their corresponding test reports.
   6. Perform Component Drawing Reviews.
   7. Coordinate with suppliers to review technical data, certification requirements and troubleshoot any issues with supplies.
   8. Review certification guidance material (advisory circulars, etc.) and incorporate the necessary guidance into the certification plans.
2. Support Flight Testing Activities , including but not limited to: Attend Ground/Flight Test briefing and debriefings

1. 1. Monitor live flight data, typically via telemetry, during flight test on aircraft.
   2. Create and review Aircraft Restrictions
   3. Create and review Aircraft Trouble-shootings
   4. Create, review and approve ground test procedures, flight test procedures and their corresponding test reports.
   5. Perform Component Drawing Reviews.
   6. Complete aircraft assembly and installation drawing reviews.
   7. Participate in Systems Design Reviews.
   8. Coordinate with suppliers to review technical data, certification requirements and troubleshoot any issues with supplies.
   9. Coordinate with certification authorities to seek clarification on requirements.
   10. Review certification guidance material (advisory circulars, etc.) and incorporate the necessary guidance into the certification plans.
   11. Monitor live flight data, typically via telemetry, during flight test on aircraft.
   12. Process, analyze, and draw conclusions from post flight data.
   13. Identify non-conformances, quality escapes, etc. to create rejection tags.
   14. Make assessments to ensure safety of flight determination.
   15. Document flight test design problems for long term fix.
   16. Generate and review appropriate limitations documentation.
   17. Write flight test results reports.
2. Complete special projects and tasks assigned by Group Lead.

Level Requirements (Minimum):
Education

• Four (4) year degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Avionics, Electrical, or Instrumentation).
  • Other Engineering fields may be considered.

Experience

• Four (4) years aerospace engineering experience in air systems, including experience in aircraft cabin temperature controls, low pressure cabin air distribution, avionics cooling, cabin pressurization, fire protection and anti-ice systems.
