Details Outpatient hematology clinic setting serving an adult non-malignant hematology population (bleeding disorders, hemophilia, anemias, sickle cell, DVTs) Chemotherapy and infusions are not administered in this clinic; this is not a malignant hematology or oncology setting Average daily census of 70 patients 13-week contract Day shift, 5x8 hours, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM Clinic is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Martin Luther King Day No call, float, or weekend requirements Epic EMR used; acute activation access required Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required Current BLS certification required Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required; acute oncology/hematology experience accepted Phlebotomy skills are required Must provide own stethoscope Epic experience required Additional Information Responsibilities include rooming patients, performing phlebotomy, central line access and care, assisting with bone marrow biopsies, administering vaccinations, performing EKGs, conducting phone triage, facilitating infusion scheduling, patient education, and case management Orientation is approximately 24 hours; pre-start modules (4–5 hours for non-acute roles) must be completed prior to start and are completed via online learning, Zoom, webinar, and in-person classes Preferred certifications include ONS, BMTCN, or OCN; outpatient oncology or hematology clinic experience preferred Navy blue scrubs required; scrubs are not provided First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to a different pay rate Former permanent, PRN, or employed staff of Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 12 months are highly preferred; references pending at time of consideration are acceptable but must be on file prior to start Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved provided it does not fall on a holiday; RTO is not permitted during the first week of the assignment (orientation week) Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays Travel pairs are allowed; each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules American Traveler Job ID #P-717053.
