Graduate Assistant – Financial Aid Office (26-27) The term Graduate Assistant is the umbrella term that encompasses all types of GA appointments. Graduate Assistants are employed by the University to teach, conduct research, or assist with administrative duties in departments and non‑academic units. Every attempt is made to assign Graduate Assistants to positions that are directly related to the student’s field of study or that provide the opportunity to develop transferable, professional skills. Graduate Assistantships are assigned in the department or unit and confirmed by the Graduate School. Fields of study that may be relevant include Accounting, Business, Communication Studies, Counseling, Higher Education, Psychology, and Public Affairs. Responsibilities Provide customer service support to students and staff. Proof‑read materials and documents. Conduct policy research and support related tasks. Assist with administrative duties such as maintaining records and handling confidential information. Participate in special projects assigned by supervisors or leadership team. Appointment: 8 months. Hours: 20 per week. Stipend: $9,700 ($4,850 per term). In‑state tuition covered. Qualifications Maintain academic good standing at all times with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Be enrolled full‑time for the academic year, generally a minimum of 9 credits. Make satisfactory progress toward degree as defined by the academic program and the Graduate School. Meet U.S. employment eligibility requirements. First attain full admission status to a UNCG graduate program. Dependable, detail‑oriented, organized, and professional when handling confidential information. Adaptable to different situations and able to work well with others.
