Details Post-surgical Med-Surg unit within a hospital setting 23-bed unit with a 1:6 patient ratio Cares for post-surgical patients including urology, ortho, general surgery, and medical overflow cases Uses customary equipment including IV pumps Uses EPIC EMR Night shift schedule, 7p-7a Every other weekend required, block scheduling accommodated when possible but not guaranteed No call requirements Customary floating required to Med Surg and Progressive units Requirements Active MO or compact RN license required at time of consideration Current BLS certification required Minimum 1 year of recent post-surgical (non-OR) nursing experience required Peri-dialysis experience preferred Must be a team player with strong communication skills Must be willing to learn and take on charge responsibilities No employment gaps of 90 days within the past 12 months Additional Information Delivers nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses, establishing care objectives, and defining nursing interventions Provides physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families Educates patients and families on conditions, medications, and self-care skills Monitors changing patient conditions and re-evaluates care objectives as needed Black scrubs required Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1 unless client-approved exemption is granted Expected to work at least one major summer or winter holiday Up to 5 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week period, with additional time subject to approval and possible makeup at the end of the assignment Local candidates accepted; candidates within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local contract limit of 3 consecutive 13-week assignments before requiring a 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the radius Located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, near a Level 3 Emergency and Trauma Center with Comprehensive Cardiac and Primary Stroke Center certifications American Traveler Job ID P-750342.
